A native of South Carolina, Sam has participated in the ministries of the church at home and abroad, in Haiti and the Dominican Republic. He attended college in Columbia, South Carolina, and shortly thereafter moved to California where he attended Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena.
Sam met his wife Esther in her hometown of Paso Robles, California. Upon Sam’s completion of seminary, they moved to South Carolina where Sam began a yearlong hospital chaplain residency. Concurrently, Sam served as a pastor of two Presbyterian congregations.
In the summer of 2015, West Haven called Sam to be their pastor. Sam, Esther, and their son Ezra are happy to call West Haven home. Sam is currently pursuing a Doctor of Ministry degree at San Francisco Theological Seminary.
Running, reading, and cheering on his favorite college football team are among Sam’s hobbies.
